Ecclesiastes 7:20 – For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.
“The soul cannot rise nor fly, nor be lifted up above the things that are on high, without special grace.” – Clement of Alexandria (A.D. 190)
Ephesians 4:17-24 – This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. But ye have not so learned Christ; If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
God, who does not lie, says every single one of us is evil. (Rom 3:23)
From the womb itself, we are all desperate sinners. (Isa 48:8)
We were made within the sins of our parents. (Psa 51:5, Job 14:4)
Born spiritually dead, bred for the evil that we love. (Job 15:14-16)
Not a single one of us has clean hands or a clean heart. (2Chro 6:36)
Romans 1:29-30 – Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
From our conception in the wombs of our mothers we are utterly wicked at heart, and our evil has us so separated from Holy God before we are even born, that we cry out in lies from the moment of our births (Psa 58:3). No one has ever taught a child how to lie, only how to do it better, because every human being born knows from birth how to lie, to speak wickedness to suit/serve our own evil desires.
“The Lord caused to meet in Him the iniquities of us all. He was the subject on which all the rays collected on the focal point fell. These fiery rays, which should have fallen on all mankind, diverged from Divine justice to the east, west, north, and south, were deflected from them, and converged in Him. So the Lord hath caused to meet in Him the punishment due to the iniquities of All.” – (Adam Clarke’s commentary)
1Peter 2:22-24 – Who did no sin, neither was guile found in His mouth: Who, when He was reviled, reviled not again; when He suffered, He threatened not; but committed Himself to Him that judgeth righteously: Who His own self bare OUR sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
Even though we were one and all, wicked, unrepentant, spiritually dead, worthless sinners…Jesus took our sins upon Himself, carried our iniquity to the cross, and that the holy justice of God the Father would be served, paid the penalty for us all.
